Okareka Dance Company, one of New Zealand’s most prolific performing arts companies, is a Voice sponsorship partner and Mana Wahine was the fourth project Voice had collaborated on. Responsible for the development of brand and communications for the show, Voice worked hard with the Okareka team to create a visual brand that would strongly reflect the show’s essence, as well as drive ticket sales hard. It opened with a New Zealand national tour in Winter 2014 to packed houses and complimentary media comment across the country. Okareka are presently seeking international opportunities for the show.

More recently, Voice were tasked with creating a digital interface for the Okareka brand. The client needed a space to promote work, past, present and ‘in progress’ and to help consumers understand the company’s stance on contemporary dance, key messages and themes. Beyond the optimisation hygiene factors of the great web, the main job here was the development of powerful, engaging content – to inform audiences, to make contemporary dance more accessible, to demystify the performing arts and to help the company get more ‘bums on seats’.

Highly creative companies like Okareka require a strong marketing sense to help them grow. Once they get it, they are unstoppable
